What are the system requirements to run MicroSurvey software?
Good news: MicroSurvey CAD runs on fairly light-duty machines. If you’re running inCAD on top of AutoCAD or Civil 3D, or using embeddedCAD (which runs on an embedded AutoCAD engine), plan your computer around Autodesk (AutoCAD 2027 specifications). If you’re running SurveyTools on top of BricsCAD, check the requirements for your BricsCAD version.
All MicroSurvey desktop programs need full administrator rights to install and must be run once with “Run as administrator.” After that, limited user accounts can run them. Programs licensed with a USB License Key need a free USB port on the workstation or on the network license server.

MicroSurvey CAD 2027 (version 27.0.3.9964, released July 29, 2026)
- Windows 11 64-bit
- A free USB port for the USB License Key
- The Ultimate and Studio editions need Leica Cyclone Viewer (free download from Leica) at a minimum to work with point clouds
- Built on the IntelliCAD 14.1 engine
Minimum hardware:
- Intel Pentium 4 or comparable x64 processor
- 4 GB RAM
- 10 GB of free disk space
- 1024 x 768 or higher resolution
- Graphics card compatible with OpenGL 1.4 or higher
Recommended (and the minimum MicroSurvey suggests for surface, animation and point cloud work):
- Intel Core i5-8500 3.00 GHz or newer
- 8 to 16 GB RAM
- 10 GB of free disk space
- 1024 x 768 or higher resolution with a graphics driver that supports OpenGL ES
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or newer, with dedicated graphics memory
Notes: the processor must be x64. ARM processors (such as some Snapdragon chips) are not supported. If you use NVIDIA custom profiles, see MicroSurvey’s article on restoring the defaults.

embeddedCAD 2027 (version 27.0.2.9991, released July 28, 2026)
- Windows 11 64-bit
- A free USB port for the USB License Key
- Runs on the embedded AutoCAD OEM 2027 engine, so plan hardware around AutoCAD 2027’s requirements
